Upgrade Instructions

If you are upgrading from the 2.0 version of KSB Pro, please follow these instructions to transfer your existing song books into the new 2.1 version.  KSB Pro 2.1 is a FREE upgrade for licensed users of KSB Pro 2.0.

Once you have imported your song books into KSB Pro 2.1 and are satisfied everything looks good in the new version, you can delete the 2.0 version from your system.

1.  Download and install KSB Pro 2.1.  (The setup for version 2.1 should default to a new directory (KSBP21) for installation.  PLEASE MAKE SURE THE DEFAULT DIRECTORY FOR INSTALLATION IS KSBP21. This is different from the 2.0 version and will insure that your song data remains safe until after version 2.1 has been installed and your song books have been imported in to it.)

2.  After installing KSB Pro 2.1, Export your Song Books from KSBP 2.0.

To export, start KSB Pro 2.0 and click the "Setup/Utilities" tab.  Next, click the "Export" button.   Accept the default, "All Fields - (Backup)"

Now click the small, square button at the end of the text field where a file "path" is displayed.  This will display a file dialog box where you can search for files.

Accept the default (which should be the title of the currently loaded song book) by clicking the "Save" button.  This should return you to the Export form.

Now click the "Export To File" button to create a .CSV file of your song book.

3.  Import your 2.0 version Song Books into KSB Pro 2.1.

To import, start KSB Pro 2.1 and add a new Song Book.  This new song book should be the title of the song book we'll be importing.

Next, click the "Setup/Utilities" tab, then click the "Import" button.  Accept the default, "All Fields - (Restore)"

Now click the small, square button at the end of the text field where a file "path" is displayed.  This will display a file dialog where you can search for files.  Use this dialog box to locate the .CSV file you created by exporting your song book from KSB Pro 2.0.  It should be in the directory that KSBP 2.0 is installed in.  (Usually this will be "C:\Program Files\KSBP".) Once you've located the file, click the "Open" button to save the path and filename.

Now, click the "Import From File" button. This will import the CSV file and display the list of import CDs and songs on the right.

To import them all, click the "Add To Song Book" button.

At this point your old song book should be imported into KSB Pro 2.1.  You'll need to follow this process for each song book that has been created in KSB Pro 2.0

Notice:

It looks like a lot of instructions but it's really a very simple process.

Once you've done it once, it should be very easy to do in the future.

The Import/Export feature in KSB Pro is also a simple method for making backups of song books.

We strongly recommend that you use this feature for this purpose every now and again.  It never hurts to have a backup.
